TEDx talk at Stormont Buildings Belfast

I was honoured and thrilled to be invited to deliver a TEDx Talk in Belfast last week!

My talk was about a subject very close to my heart: the magic of storytelling and how vitally important magic is- for adults as well as children. I will post it up as soon as it is released.

Here is a list of the other speakers, you will agree I was in excellent company.

Ana Matronic

Yes Ana Matronic from the Scissor Sisters! I tried not to be a complete geek but I did have to have my photo taken with her like everyone else. (below) My talk was second to last (and hers was of course last) so this is us backstage in the Parliament buildings surrounded by all the old books of laws and just waiting. See how starstruck and nervous I look!

The other women were brilliant, smart and inspirational too, with topics ranging from history, prisoners’ children, the wherefores of arts funding, religion, acceptance, smartphones and prioritising the important things in life. One of my favourites by June Burgess  was about “smiling with all four cheeks” or just letting go at the crucial moments in life. Just what I needed to hear at that particular moment.

Anyway check out the others…

…here we are all together (below) getting a standing ovation. It was an amazing shared moment I could hardly believe I was part of it. So many people contributed towards me being able to do this. I was really aware of all the people working in the background, the AV crew, and the organisers- making sure the entire event was a success no matter what any individual speaker did.

To all the people who took the time to listen to my talk, helped me think my ideas through and picked out important details for me… THANK YOU SO MUCH! You can watch the talk below.
