We loved being part of the Londonist-curated series of talks on board the amazing dazzle-painted HMS Belfast.
Nigel and I were commissioned to do a family-friendly selection of stories and songs related to the river Thames.
Photos are by Jose Farinha.
We could hardly all squeeze into the cabin:
Nigel wrote a song in 40 minutes based on the audience’s suggestions. Have a listen- he used every single word.
While he was frantically composing above decks…
…I told stories about the various Thames tributaries, the Walbrook, the Neckinger, the Effra and the Ravensbourne…
And the kids took part too, here they are trying on various hats and wigs from Rustic yokel to Minecraft Creeper:
Big thanks to everyone who bought tickets and entered into the Thames spirit! Extra big thanks to Londonist and especially Lindsey, for organising the event.
